Developmental Disabilities, Self Advocates, Advocacy Groups and Families
Title: The Georgia Crisis Response System for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (GCRS-DD): Information session for Individuals diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities, Self Advocates, Advocacy Groups & Families
Description: The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), Division of Developmental Disabilities has developed the Georgia Crisis Response System for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (GCRS-DD) as an alternative to the Temporary Immediate Care (TIC) admissions to Intermediate Care Facilities, Mental Retardation (ICF-MR) facilities. The purpose of this system is to provide crisis services that support individuals with developmental disabilities in the community and to offer alternatives to emergency room care, law enforcement involvement, and/or institutional placement. The crisis services provided by this system are home and community based. The intent of this information session is for the participants to know:
The purpose of the Georgia Crisis Response System (GCRS-DD);
The components of essential information about the GCRS-DD;
The criteria that determines who will qualify for services through the system; and,
The major elements of the system.
The goal of this two hour seminar is to bring awareness of this new system of care that will be provided to individuals diagnosed with DD as an alternate to TIC admissions to Georgia’s psychiatric hospitals and/or incarceration.
Audience: This informational session is for individuals diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities, Self Advocates, Advocacy Groups and Families. The support team of the individual with DD is welcome to attend, but must register. See registration details on pages 6 & 7 of this announcement.
Presenters: The presenters for this training will be Training Specialists and Administrator from the DBHDD’s Division of Developmental Disabilities.
